Clinical Research: The New Frontier

Yinka Oshodi is a Sr. Clinical Research Manager at the Comprehensive Blood and Cancer Center (CBCC). In this role, Ms. Oshodi manages a team providing leadership over all research related aspects at CBCC. A big believer in making a difference in patient’s lives; Yinka is interested in the innovation of cancer care through clinical research.

Yinka has spent the past 10 years in the healthcare industry, starting her career at UCLA Medical Center as an administrative assistant in a multidisciplinary outpatient clinic. In 2010, she transitioned to cancer research working with the UCLA Jonssen Comprehensive Cancer Center as a Regulatory Coordinator. After graduate school, Yinka became a Sr. Clinical Research Coordinator supporting a variety of disease teams (e.g. lung cancer, breast cancer, HCC and sarcoma).

Before joining CBCC Global Research in September of 2018, Yinka worked for the City of Hope (COH) Comprehensive Cancer Center for over 3 years as the Manager of the Clinical Research Protections office. Since City of Hope is a NCI designated cancer center, all clinical research studies were required to be reviewed by a scientific review committee and data and safety committee prior to IRB approval. In this role, Yinka was responsible for ensuring that protocols met NCI Cancer Center guidelines having sound scientific merit and appropriate data and safety parameters.

At her time at COH Ms. Oshodi led the merge of the administrative offices of the scientific review committee and the COH IRB, which is now known as the Clinical Research Protections office. Her work in this restructure allowed for a 30% decrease to the overall study activation timeline.

Ms. Oshodi received her Master’s in Healthcare Administration from University of Illinois at Chicago in 2013. She also holds a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science from the California State University of Northridge. Yinka also completed coursework as a certified Manager of Quality and Organizational Excellence and has been a member of the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA) since 2014.
