The Beacon

The room was abuzz and packed with friends on this Valentine’s Day BBRC meeting. If anyone started cranky, the long-stemmed roses seemed to turn all frowns upside down!
Strong Arm Frank Wooldridge and Brenna Ardron were greeters and ticket sellers, raking in $75 for the day’s lucky drawing winner…Ken Quarnberg. Man, that guy wins all the time!
The morning routine was handled by Stephanie Baker (filling in for Myrna’s invocation duties), Mindy Wilmot (flag salute), and Carol Smith (songstress extraordinaire).
Program
Past President Cheryl Scott introduced Randy Merriman (past president of BBRC and current West Rotarian). Randy talked about his experiences working on Rotary’s International Service efforts over the years. Pete Leveroni piqued his interest in international projects years ago, and since then, Randy has visited Guatemala twice. Projects there have included building a school from the ground up and a much-improved restroom for students. The Guatemala club and the community were so grateful they painted the school in Rotary blue and gold!
They say it’s your birthday (and other stuff worth celebrating)…
Happy Birthday, Marti Sanders and Brenna Ardron!
And happy club anniversary to two dynamic women who are an integral part of our club: Mindy Wilmot (5 years) and Carol Smith (total of 25 years between BBRC and Twilight). Thank you for all you do!
Money, Money, Money!
Community Service Director Robert Provencio and President Pat were beaming as they presented a “big check” to Tom Pasek, representing the club’s $3,000 donation to Jason’s Retreat. The organization is in growth mode, and the much-needed funds will go toward the purchase of refrigerators.
Congrats to Jacquie Alexander, who won $200 in the Super Bowl pool!
