The Beacon The official weekly publication of The Rotary Club of Bakersfield Breakfast for February 14, 2024 by Cheryl Scott Reporter for the week: Cheryl Scott Pictures by: David Perkins Happy Spots (and Less Happy Fines) Past President Dave Spalinger was dinged for his recent purchase of an electric dirt bike. Apparently, a cocktail or two at Charter Night led to Dave making a couple of confessions to President Pat (who always listens with an ear toward a potential fine). Pat was intrigued, put Dave on the spot, and yes, our Pres is still asking how long the power cord is to charge that beast! Dave coughed up $20 because he was so happy. Jacquie Alexander was $16 happy in honor of “her Jake’s” 16th birthday. Thanks, Jacquie! It seems that Mickey Mouse, like President Pat, had shoulder surgery! Bill Potter brought Pat a stuffed Mickey with an “injured shoulder” all the way from Disneyworld. Bill was $20 happy. Apparently, everyone was feeling Valentine’s love and stuck around afterward for a lot of visiting and catching up. Gotta love BBRC! Announcements If you’re interested in helping update the BBRC By-Laws, check in with Past President Jeff Haynes. Mark your calendar for the annual All Club Meeting on March 14th at CTEC on Old River Rd. |
