Song: Independence High School Choir Visiting Rotarians: Jerry Starr introduced Heather Ann Young visiting from Rohnert Park Rotary Visiting Guests: Trent Miller guest of Mike and Shari George, Kenny Shandley guest of Adoree Roberson Brett Julius the president of Independence High School Interact Club introduced himself and thanked the club for sending a group of them to the Rose Parade to help with the Rotary float and for helping them send 800 lbs of books (21 boxes) to the Solomon Islands to help students there. Birthdays: Martha Samora, (Michele Cooper; Ed O’Donnell were not there to celebrate their birthday) 
Happy Spots/Recognitions: President Kay gave each Interact Club member $10 to stand up and say what they were happy for. Jacklyn said she w as glad for hump day; Daisy was glad for graduating seniors; Alexis for Interact opportunities and high school opportunities; Hannah for Interact and glad for her education at IHS; Brett was happy for finishing his AP tests. Mary Breckenridge was $30 happy, she is going on the next Honor Flight this weekend. Twenty Vietnam vets will be going on this flight. Mary also announced that there will be a SAN MIGUEL COMMEMORATIVE GROVE clean-up this April 22nd from 9am to noon Jeff Bell announced he had two children attending IHS and neither one is an Interact Club member (Tylor a senior and Alyssa a sophomore). Jeff volunteered a $40 fine due to his sorry at his children not participating in Interact (yet.) 
Denise Haynes gave a summary of the PRLS training she and Ron Nelms and Ed O’D had the past weekend. 
President Kay presented $50 to DJ the Interact Advisor (a math teacher at IHS) for the club. Thee Assistant Princi pal introduced herself and thanked everyone. 
The “Ethics in Business Conference” was praised by many members who attended and commented on how great the kids were and how nice the program was. Our very own Carl Leech was given recognition at the event for his 20 years of dedication to this program. Congratulations Carl!!!! 
Program: The program was brief because of time, DJ told the club how the Interact Club became involved with the Solomon Islands and their need for text & reference books. She attended a Rotary Club meeting there while visiting for a missionary conference and discovered that they needed books for their library. When she got back, the Interact Club got into full gear and gather ed 21 boxes of books. They just shipped the books out on March 7th.
