I finally received the books (20 boxes in all) on Thursday last week delivered by DHL as directed by BJS agency.
We, the Saint Nicholas Interact Club formally hand over the books to the school this morning (Monday) during the formal assembly. We are right now stamping and recording the books in the library before placing them on the shelves.
A lot of teachers and students have commended what you have done and we would like to say a big thank you to each and everyone of you who have helped one way or the other in accepting to collecting the books, and the actual collecting of books and we also acknowledge the effort all of you put into getting the books over to us. Please know that these books will have a huge positive impact on the learning of our students

New Member induction: Marilee Reagor presented Denise McCombs as the newest member of BBRC. Denise is partner in Wheeks Construction and has a passion for helping youth in our community. Denise is also a cancer survivor, having recently overcome stage 4 lymphoma.
Above and Beyond Award:Greg Desme presented the award to Msgr. Craig Harrison. Msgr. Garrison graduated from BHS and attended UCLA, followed by a divinity program at St John’s. He has served as a Catholic priest since 1987 and has ministered in Bakersfield at St Francis of Assisi since 1999 where he currently provides spiritual leadership to over 7,000 families. He has adopted eight children who have in turn given him 17(?) grandchildren.
Program:Leslie VoVilla introduced Aaron Markovita from One Legacy as our presenter today. He attended CSUB where he earned an undergraduate and a master’s degree in business and he works as a donation coordinator for One Legacy. Aaron shared a brief news clip on organ donation and then took Q&A for the entirety of his allotted time in lieu of the scripted PowerPoint presentation.

One Legacy is the largest organ, eye and tissue recovery organization in the world
Each state maintains an organ donor registry- primarily through the DMV
Registering as an organ donor is a legal decision. Not registering is not a legal decision, it just means the decision will be outsourced to your loved ones.
Less than 1% of all individuals will be medically eligible to potentially provide organ donations at the time of their passing.
Almost all individuals are medically eligible to become tissue donor (corneas, heart valves, bone, skin, tendons, and veins) at the time of their passing.
JJ’s Legacy is a local donor advocacy group
Currently 120,000+ individuals are waiting for lifesaving organ donations in the US. On average, each day there are 22 people who pass away while waiting for a transplant while another 144 new cases are added to the transplant list.
Hospitals have very specific procedures for handling potential organ donation cases.
