As you can tell, the Beacon is up and running again thanks to Frank Wooldridge and Kay Pitts.  This will help immensely in our communication and reports of what is happening in our Club.  Thank you to both of you for your untiring dedication.

Speaking of thanking people, a big debt of gratitude to Cheryl Scott for filling in for me last week while I went under the knife to remove some Kidney Stones.  The surgery was a success and recovering nicely. Thank you for all your thoughts a prayers.

Many of you were able to make the annual “All Club” last Thursday at the Marriott.  It was a huge success. We heard an outstanding performance of the National Anthem from 11 year old Lauren Kaff from Boys & Girls Club Music Fusion. Then the first woman President of a Rotary Club, Sylvia Whitlock, shared with us her experience of the landmark Supreme Court ruling in 1987 allowing women as members.

There are many things that are upcoming for the remainder of the year so be sure and mark your calendar which are posted in this issue and on the website.  Also, Denise Haynes and her committee has been working on the bylaws to be compliant with Rotary International so be looking for those amendments and changes in the next few months.

For those of you on the Board or on the incoming Board, District Assembly is March 16th in Bakersfield and March 30th in Oxnard.  Please attend.  The sessions are a great help in equipping you in leading the Club.

This week’s speaker  is Lana Fain from the CALM.  Looking forward to hearing from her as to what is happening at CALM.  See you Wednesday.
