WHO'S IN CHARGE

For a list of the Board of Directors and Committee Chairpersons of Bakersfield Breakfast Rotary Club go to Leadership.  For goings on in BBRC's district, click on Rotary District 5240. Click on links to District Governor Jane McClenahan from the Rotary Club Ojai West, and to Rotary International President, Wilfrid (Wilf) J. Wilkinson, a member of the Rotary Club of Trenton, Ontario, Canada.  President Wilkinson's theme, Rotary Shares ties directly to his agenda including the need for RI to improve its positive image; more vigorously promote its achievements; remain relevant and attractive to younger prospective club members; and intensify and expand projects addressing water, health, hunger, and literacy worldwide.  Another thing on Wilf's mind is the importance of consistent ethical standards. He states, "For me, Rotary Shares was the natural choice as the 2007-08 theme. I have always felt that the essence of Rotary is about sharing. Every day, in every club, Rotarians share with others in too many ways to count. We share our time, we share our talents, and we share our resources. We share our kindness, and we share our love."

OUR PROJECTS

  • Centennial Memorial Grove -  On March 11, 2006, many Bakersfield Breakfast Rotarians along with their families and friends descended on a plot of previously neglected land near Kern River. In recognition of Rotary International's 100th anniversary, 100 trees indigenous to the area were planted in a record-breaking 3 hours.  Meandering walkways have been constructed winding throughout and underneath the future leafy canopies providing lots of cool shade to city residents.  Bakersfield Mayor Harvey Hall and Vice Mayor Michael Maggard were on hand to present an official proclamation commemorating the event. This project was spearheaded by BBRC member, Jackie Maxwell. (Go to Projects for photos). June 14, 2006, was the official dedication of the Grove.
  • Centennial Project - BARC Mobile Shredding Service
Bakersfield Breakfast Rotary Club is proud of its Centennial Project - a partnership with Bakersfield Association for Retarded Citizens (BARC) to provide a much needed shredder truck that is providing revenue and jobs for BARC clients thus enabling self-support.
  • Centennial International Project
Our Centennial International Project in Belize is COMPLETE!!! In keeping with the original Rotary Project 100-years ago, Club 654, Bakersfield Breakfast Rotary Club, has provided new toilets for students and faculty of a little village in Belize (go to Projects for photos).
